inZOI early access

inZOI announced that it will hit early access on March 28, 2025. Honestly, I would say that they take their time. Life By You getting cancelled only added the hunger for a fresh life-sim. inZOI looks very interesting. And I prefer to have inZOI take their time for a successful launch as it's primed for the life-sim market with rivals like Paralives and Sims 4.

What's the big deal with inZOI?

  • Create beautiful ZOIs.
  • Gorgeous weather dynamic.
  • Customize the world according to your play theme.
  • Impressive build mode.
  • Open world with live map.
The beautiful character creation, the live open world, and gorgeous weather dynamic are the deal makers. The building aspect is secondary. But I'm impressed on how you can edit the overarching theme for your city such as adding the post-apocalypse setting. Sort of like add roleplay into the world. Players will also encounter unexpected life events in the game. Which complements the open world and live map similar to Sims 3.
  
Although I noticed the following:
  • Apparently not challenging to playing inZOI and feels like a sandbox game instead of a life sim.
  • No emphasis on how the ZOIs will make a living.
  • Much given emphasis on propping decors instead of homesteading.
  • Feels like a social MMO game.

Whatever the case, there's a demand for a new life-sim game. The Sims seems like it lost its touch both on graphics and gameplay. So much so that I find myself going back to the predecessors. However Sims 4 will continue through next year with the major plan of adding a multiplayer aspect to it (even though there's a mod for that). Paralives, another life-sim, is also slated to have early access on 2025. Vivaland is also new player which is a multiplayer life-sim.

inZOI is also planned to release on current consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, alongside the PC/Steam platform next year.

Sims 4 now uses a Daily Login Reward to unlock new content

The Sims 4 is adding new content via a Daily Login award mechanic. New weekly content will be unlocked that can then be claimed after logging in a few times a week. At least they're free  but I have some thoughts as it is a timed event. Perhaps they're testing this model for Project Rene.  First of all, what is the harm in adding the new content without logging into the game? The daily login mechanic looks like the phase to turn The Sims into a completely online game. I won't dub Project Rene as Sims 5 yet as its concept functions closer to a spin-off Sims (aka Sims Online). Obviously, having a daily login mechanic belong to online games. Perhaps they want to bring back the playerbase -- sort of?  Granted that the daily login adds a sense of urgency, I don't see any difference if they simply serve new content without the "battle-pass" gimmick. Life By You is cancelled

Life By You has announced its cancellation. The announcement was made on the Paradox Interactive Forums via Paradox General Discussion. Having it announced on the PDX general discussion instead of the Life By You forums means that the Life By You forum will likely shut down soon.  The game has been cancelled due to the game lacking on some key areas according to Paradox Deputy CEO, Mattias Lilja. Which may translate to simply dissatisfaction with the current builds and delaying the game is not their answer. There are other sides to the disappointing story about funding or corporate matters. One of the developers posted an article , stating that they were only informed two weeks before the early access. The biggest selling point for me is its supposed open world and concurrent gameplay.
